“Um,” I said, “This is an IPA. I don’t really like IPA’s.”
“Yes,” he replied, disappointed that his gift was rejected, “but it’s got apricots in it!”
That it does. And it’s also a beer with two personalities. The chilled personality brings out the sweet flavor of the apricots, and you don’t really notice it’s an IPA. Let it warm up, however, and the hops get all riled up because they’ve been paired with fruit, and boy, does this beer turn bitter!
Being a fruithead, I liked the chilled version of this a lot. When it warmed up, it got a little too bitter for my personal tastes, but I think if you’re a hophead who’s a little wary of getting fruit in your beer (or beer in your fruit), you might really enjoy this at a warmer tempurature.
