Beer Wisdom:
The Pursuit Of Craft Beer Attracts Critics
Sort-of ancient beer wisdom, one pint at a time.by Eddie Glick
Those who pursue the higher life of dedicating their palates to locally brewed, flavorful craft beer, who seek to live by those principles, must be prepared to be laughed at, condemned, and be called a “pompous ass hat.”
Many people who have progressively lowered their personal standards in an attempt to win social acceptance resent those of philosophical bent who refuse to compromise their spiritual ideals and seek to only drink quality craft beer. Be compassionate toward them and at the same time hold to what you know is good beer, brewed by those who care about something more than branding and bean counting.
When you begin your program of drinking only truly great, locally brewed beer, chances are the people closest to you will deride you or accuse you of arrogance.
It is your job to drink your beer humbly and consistently hew to your moral ideals. Hold to what you know in your glass is best. Then, if you are steadfast, the very people who ridiculed your choice in beer will come to admire it.
If you allow the mean-spirited opinions of shit beer defenders to make you waver in your pursuit of craft beer, you incur a double shame.
